Syrina takes off

On her way with a E-Handbike

Syrina just turned 18. She suffers from spina bifida and can therefore walk only short distances. She’s able to manage longer distances with her wheelchair.  On weekends, Syrina lives with her mom and her little brother in Cologne.  She is looked after at the children's hospital Amsterdamer Straße.

During the week, Syrina visits a boarding school in Vollmarstein, where she as a good student wants to finish the 9th grade. She spends her free time with her friends, whom she likes to visit or meet in a café.  Everything what young adults like to do at her age. But she can not ask for help every time, because even the smallest mountains can hardly be overcome by her wheelchair.

So that Syrina is more independent, we have partially financed her an e-hand bike.  Fortunately, the health insurance also supported in the purchase. Even if the handling requires some practice, the 18-year-old is completely enthusiastic and is really happy about the gift.

We would like to thank the team of the Sanitätshaus Welb http://www.sanitä for their very competent advice and the procurement of many aids, such as galileo machines, sports wheelchairs and the e-handbike they provided with Syrina free of charge to the boarding school.

We look forward to the first report from Syrina and

wish the young woman a great and self-determined way into adult life.
